Thank you to Atlanta Bread Company, Kim Finley (Marketing Manager at ABC), Lisa Renz (Executive Director, BNI Southeastern VA), Brenda Tusing (Co-Owner, The Royal Chocolate) and Karen Clements (Chief Operating Geekette, The Geekettes Club) for the AMAZING event last week.

I heard that over 100 women attended, which is amazing. Kim and Katherine did a fantastic job with the food, the wine was excellent, and Brenda’s team from The Royal Chocolate served up some scrumptious treats. Is there such a thing as a chocolate hangover?

Are you ready for the next one? Please put a HOLD THE DATE for September 22nd. We will be holding our September networking event. Karen is working on the details and will be sure to share them as soon as they are finalized.

Upcoming Events

As we are enjoying the summer, and so many Geekettes are taking advantage of the weather and going on vacation, we are not going to be holding a July networking meeting. However, in August, we have been invited to join the BNI women for a special “Wine, Women and Chocolate” event. Hosted by Atlanta Bread Company at 675 Phoenix Drive, Virginia Beach, the event is an opportunity to network, mingle, bond, and do some business! Bring/invite your female friends and associates for a fun, tasty, productive evening among women of like minds. Make sure you register here!

A Couple of Promotional Opportunities

1) Blue Gypsy Blues Fest

There are still opportunities available to sponsor this event and promote your business to a great audience, in a cool and innovative way. Talk to Geekette – Leah Kaiz for more information. AND make sure you buy your tickets! This is going to be a fun and very cool event, and if you book your tickets before the end of July, you can get in on the Early Bird rate!

2) Bzibee Media – Podcasting Interviews

Alison Creamer is a leading video blogger and podcaster in Hampton Roads, along with being a star Realtor. She is offering Geekettes the chance to promote their business. She has grown her podcast subscription base from 200 subscribers to 750 in just 60days and is looking to interview anyone who works in a business that supports 4 walls and a roof – like title agents, insurance agents, contractors, etc. There is a small investment to promote your business using her podcasting campaigns, but it will give you great exposure, AND you can take the audio and republish it for your clients to hear as well. 3) Small Business Insight – SBI Magazine

Jessica Swink – our very own Literary Geekette – is the new editor of SBI, a new magazine focused on Small Business in Hampton Roads. In addition to the magazine, SBI is holding a number of events for small business owners, with some very high profile attendees. Check them out on Facebook, and on their website. And feel free to reach out to Jessica if you think you have an interesting story, if you can help promote SBI, or if there is any synergy between your business and SBI. They are all about collaboration – as are WE!

The Geekettes Club provides members with the unique opportunity to be ‘spotlighted’ during our monthly networking events. To make sure we are giving this opportunity to the members most in need of help, we have setup the following guidelines to help you decide if this is the right opportunity for you:

Are you:

1) A small business owner who is just getting started and needs a little help promoting your business?

2) Are you looking for a new job, career change or a promotion?

3) Are you considering starting a new business, but don’t know where to start (or maybe you don’t know if the business concept has any appeal)?

4) Are you a business owner or work for a small business that needs help? Maybe you need some marketing or technical assistance?
